Since the discovery of magnetoelectric effect, the emergent phenomena of controlling ferroelectric and magnetic order parameters in crystals has brought broad attention for the past decades. Particularly, multiferroics, where the magnetic order with broken inversion symmetry accompanies the occurrence of ferroelectric polarization, can offer new means of potential device applications via remarkable tunability of dielectric properties by applying magnetic fields. In this talk, I will present recent discoveries of novel multiferroic materials, and their intriguing physical properties.
