Cavity optomechanics is an important platform in which the interaction between electromagnetic radiation and nano- or micro-mechanical motion can be engineered for specific objectives such as cooling the motional mechanical states or amplifying the electromagnetic fields. In this talk, I discuss the features of cavity optomechanical systems in the quantum limit and cover from the fundamental interactions mediated by the radiation pressure to some possible applications of optomechanical systems such as quantum sensors and resources.
