Description

In this study, CdSe quantum dots are synthesized by using a pyrolysis based on the chemical colloidal method. Using the paraffin liquid as a slovent, a low temperature synthesis for CdSe quantum dots was studied. Study of precursors is another object of this work. To obtain CdSe quantum dots with high quality, the conventional dimethyl cadmium precursor was replaced by CdO.
Experimental results tell that the CdSe quantum dots with larger energy gap and smaller particles in size are synthesized at lower temperature, implying that the synthesis temperature is a crucial parameter in controlling the size of quantum dots.
In additon, the crystal structure and the surface of quantum dots are investigated by XRD and TEM, respectively. Finally, UV-Vis and PL spectra of quantum dots show optical properties of interest, such as electronic transitions originated form the quanum confinement effect and Stoke's shift.
