Description

The Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) is a high energy particle detector mounted on the International Space Station (ISS) to search for the dark matter and antimatter, to measure cosmic rays with large acceptance, and to study its composi- tion and origin.
The main purpose of this study is to improve the proton momentum determina- tion by using the Tracker system and the Transition Radiation Detector (TRD) in the AMS-02. The Tracker system is a good detector to determine the momentum but its limitation of the proton momentum is 1.83 TeV. In order to extend the proton momentum higher than those measured by the Tracker, we studied a new method to determine the proton momentum by using the TRD. Based on this study, we found a possibility of momentum determination with the TRD.
