Description

APV 25 chip, a kind of multi-channel pre-amp, have short response time, can store a signal at every 192 analog pipelines of each 128 channels so that it can read and input simultaneously, have high radiation torlerance and many other merits. Moreover, it can reduce shaping time in one-tenth, by using multi-peak-mode that read successive 6 signals and calculate real signal. In this research, the experiment detecting radiation was performed by organizing DAQ(Data Acquisition) system using APV25 chip and 32 channel Single-sided Silicon Strip Detector(SSSD) of 25.5 x 40.0 x 0.5 mm3 made from our lab.
The experiment using strontium(90Sr) as a beta radioactive source was performed to prove detection capacity of strip sensor, and the experiment using americium(241Am) as a alpha radioactive source was performed to confirm detection signals by position of radioactive source. In beta source test, a PIN diode sensor of 180 μm thickness and a photo diode sensor of 650 μm thickness were used as timing trigger to get signal with 1 MIP particles. At this point, electronic signals occurred from multi-channel sensor don’t only include intrinsic noise of circuit and detection signal, but also electromagnetic interference between neighboring channels, so through the common-mode correction, intrinsic noise, detection signal and its signal to noise ratio(SNR) are acquired. In alpha source test, real detection signal can’t be get because of using random trigger, but it was confiremd that detection signal differed by position of radioactive source. Through these two experiment, detection capacity of strip sensor was proved.
